The ICDM-100 is an external device for the encryption of data when they are transmitted via a basic rate interface (ISDN). It is placed between PC (COM interface RS232 or USB1.1-interface and the BRI. ecause of configuration and key administration via any data terminal program, the device is independent of customer platform and operating system. The ICDM-100 includes a complete encrypted procedure and is without particular knwledge on the field of cryptology immediately usable. The implemented encryption method (encryption, algorithm, key management and security functions) organizes the secure data transmission and the safety of security relevant data on the module automatically. The necessary keys for for encoded data transfer are made automatically using a integrated random number generator of distinguished quality. The key management is handled by the device itself so that no action requirement exists from the customer. For a secure authentication compared to the distant station, a challenge-response procedure is integrated. If required, data can also be transmitted in plain text, as a result compatibility with every ISDN connection is guaranteed.
