TR-43-1, -2, -5, and -6 fibre optic converters have been designed in order to enable connection of devices incorporating interfaces complying with RS-485 recommendation. Optical connections are made by means of twin fibre optic line providing complete isolation between devices and resistance to disturbance occuring along transmission path. The range has been significantly increased in comparison with direct electrical connection. TR-43-1 and TR-43-5 converters have been provided with single fibre optic port and single electrical port. Such converters can be used in order to connect two devices incorporating RS-485 interface, to connect two bus bars or to connect a device to the bus bar. When connection of greater number of devices is required, TR-43-2 and TR-43-6 converters can be used. Such units are provided with two fibre optic ports and single electric port in order to enable fibre optic bus construction. The converters can be connected together by means of fibre optic line as well as by means of electric cable. TR-43 (RS-485, 422) converters can be combined with TR-21-7 models (RS-232/C) enabling elastic approach in course of network designing, cables lenght optimisation and corresponding adaption of network topology in view of data safety. TR-43-2 and TR-43-6 converters are particulary useful for construction networks with many fibre optic branches. Several such converters connected in series by means of fibre optic cable form a fibre optic bus with active RS-485 electric branches. TR-43-1 or TR-43-5 converters shall be used on the ends of such bus (due to economical reasons).
