TM/MD-73 interface converter is designed to connect IT devices via telecommunication network (SDH, ATM). It is furnished solely with V.35 interface which significantly decreases its cost and dimensions. TM/MD-73 is capable of transporting data for example between routers representing remote computer networks. The converter supports a synchronous transmission of digital signals of n x 64 kbit/s (n=1 through 31) bit rate. This is especially important for telecommunication operators who can provide their clients with data streams of lower rates with increments of 64 kbit/s. Assiggnment of time slots carrying the digital signal is arbitrary and is performed by the software. It is also possible to switch off the framing mode and use the converter for transparent transmission of any 2048 Mbit/s signal. The converter is available as a stand-alone TM-73 device or as MD-73 card used for cooperation with TM-72 accessm mode. It can also work with TM/MD-73/1 converter or with TM-49 access multiplexer. The high power budget covers a signal transmission range of about 1.5 km. MD-73 card or other Lanex cards can be installed only in TM-72 telecommunication shelf and they are physically composed of two pieces: a digital card and an interface card. The digital card and the stand-alone converter are furnished with components signaling failure conditions on interfaces. Both local and remote devices can be managed within transmission band (eg. TSO) or outside transmission band by means of VT-100 terminal or LanWin application working under Windows 9X/2000/NT.
