Windows 10 Service-End! EoS + EoL

Numerous measuring devices use Windows 10 as their internal operating system. From October 14, 2025, security updates will no longer be provided for this operating system. However, Microsoft has announced a commercial Extended Security Update (ESU) option. This would ensure three years of additional software support. Does this affect your measuring device? Check with the manufacturer of the test tool to find out when software support will end.

Alternative operating system/OS available?

Some manufacturers have already introduced successor products with Android or Linux as the operating system. Before making a new purchase, you should weigh up the geopolitical conflicts and issues of security, data protection, and reliability. Android is linked to Google (USA), Windows to Microsoft (USA), and only Linux is available as an open-source and transparent global OS alternative.

Against the backdrop of unresolved data protection regulations between the EU and the USA, as well as potential economic conflicts, careful consideration of the decision for an operating system is advisable.
